Desde el año 2013 dirijo el Grupo de Biotecnología y Materiales Biobasados del ITPN-UBA-CONICET. Nuestras investigaciones se centran en la derivatización, caracterización y estudio de aplicaciones de polímeros biobasados. En este marco, trabajamos en la obtención de nanocelulosa bacteriana (a escala laboratorio y piloto) y su uso en el desarrollo de materiales biomédicos, materiales filtrantes, materiales adsorbentes, membranas antimicrobianas, nanopapeles para restauración de documentos, nano-... Desde el año 2013 dirijo el Grupo de Biotecnología y Materiales Biobasados del ITPN-UBA-CONICET. Nuestras investigaciones se centran en la derivatización, caracterización y estudio de aplicaciones de polímeros biobasados. En este marco, trabajamos en la obtención de nanocelulosa bacteriana (a escala laboratorio y piloto) y su uso en el desarrollo de materiales biomédicos, materiales filtrantes, materiales adsorbentes, membranas antimicrobianas, nanopapeles para restauración de documentos, nano-refuerzo de materiales compuestos de matriz polimérica, etc. Nuestro grupo también estudia la obtención de almidones modificados por vía enzimática, física y química (almidones acetilados, almidones entrecruzados, almidones resistentes, almidones pregelatinizados) de interés en el área de alimentos y adhesivos y papel; así como el desarrollo de materiales nanocompuestos de matriz de ácido poliláctico. De mi formación doctoral tengo experiencia en catálisis enzimática. En el grupo hay integrantes con experiencia en microbiología industrial.
