Desde hace 35 años, se está trabajando en la determinación estructural de polisacáridos de distintas fuentes, fundamentalmente algas rojas y pardas. También se ha trabajado en la modificación de dichos polisacáridos a fin de mejorar sus propiedades reológicas o su actividad biológica. Se ha trabajado en el desarrollo de metodología para el estudio de polisacáridos. Finalmente se han efectuado estudios por mecánica molecular y métodos cuánticos para el modelado molecular de hidratos de carbono, ya sea con la finalidad de estudiar aspectos conformacionales, o bien para predecir su reactividad. *Information provided by the agent in SIGEVALines of Investigation
