We analyse how such concepts may alter their original meaning as they are adapted, modified or rejected amidst the struggles for recognition in the public sphere. Focusing mainly on the concept of landscape, we also examine a range of other concepts that can negatively affect indigenous and peasant communities engaged in political and heritage struggles. Finally, we come back to the concept of landscape to reflect on our own experience in intercultural practice through concrete case studies
