Resumen

This chapter examines the immense power of the supposedly neutral scientific categories we use to designate our objects of study, to define the interpretative and practical parameters for intercultural negotiations. We analyse how such concepts may alter their original meaning as they are adapted, modified or rejected amidst the struggles for recognition in the public sphere. Focusing mainly on the concept of landscape, we also examine a range of other concepts that can negatively affect indigenous and peasant communities engaged in political and heritage struggles. Finally, we come back to the concept of landscape to reflect on our own experience in intercultural practice through concrete case studies
