Resumen *

Despite continuous research in the area, most of the neotropical mushroom species are still unknown, as are all thebenefits they may provide for humankind. In the present research, eleven mushroom specimens were collected from theMadidi National Park in Bolivia, a globally recognized biodiversity hot spot, and chemically explored.Specimens were morphologically characterized and their methanolic extracts screened for the presence of secondarymetabolites by means of thin-layer chromatography and precipitation reactions. Taxonomic determinations were based onspecialized bibliography and taxonomic keys accompanied by a macroscopic and microscopic evaluation.Among the collected specimens were found the species Ganoderma citriporum Ryvarden e Iturr., Fulvifomes rhytiphloeus(Mont.) Camp.-Sant. & Robledo, and Cerrena sclerodepsis (Berk.) Ryvarden, with the first two being recentlycommunicated as a ?first report? for Bolivia. Five specimens were tentatively identified to the same extent, and threewere left at the genus level. Chemical screening of the methanolic extracts showed a wide diversity of secondarymetabolites, with terpenoids/phenylpropanoids and triterpenes/steroids being the most common across specimens. Somepresented an important potential regarding the presence of alkaloids and phenolic compounds, whereas flavonoids,sesquiterpene lactones and cardiac glycosides resulted negative for all collected samples. As far as the researchers areconcerned, Ganoderma citriporum, Fulvifomes rhytiphloeus and Cerrena sclerodepsis, as well as some other collectedspecimens, were chemically evaluated for the first time.
