SANResumen *
Parkinson´s disease (PD) is a chronic neurodegenerative disorder characterized by the loss of dopaminergic neurons due to misfoldingand aggregation of a-synuclein (aS) protein. Although Doxycycline (DOX) showed potential to interfere with aS aggregation, its antibiotic activity confers alimitation for long-term treatments. Thus, we synthesized and tested a reduced form of DOX (DDOX) with weaker antibiotic activity but improvedneuroprotective and anti-aggregant qualities.
