Planning teaching and learning processes are part of a teacher’s competencies, hence its importance in initial teacher training. Within the vast specific bibliography on planning and its uses and meanings in teaching and teacher training, this article seeks to: (a) describe the emergence and relationships that characterize lesson planning and how this is performed in the current sociohistorical context; and (b) reflect on the origin, in the present spaces of teachers training programs, of... Within the vast specific bibliography on planning and its uses and meanings in teaching and teacher training, this article seeks to: (a) describe the emergence and relationships that characterize lesson planning and how this is performed in the current sociohistorical context; and (b) reflect on the origin, in the present spaces of teachers training programs, of tensions and articulations among the meanings assigned to lesson planning, which respond to different didactic moments and which would seem to hinder its learning.
