Se ha desarrollado conocimiento en el campo del aprovechamiento de residuos y biomasas para la obtención de energía a partir del proceso de digestión anaeróbica, lo que ha llevado a a analizar los factores que afectan dicho proceso tales como el tipo y cantidad de inóculo, y la influencia que ejercen sobre la producción de biometano y su cinética de producción.Se han analizado las características fisicoquímicas de los residuos, tales como el pH, alcalinidad, sólidos totales y volátiles, demand... Se ha desarrollado conocimiento en el campo del aprovechamiento de residuos y biomasas para la obtención de energía a partir del proceso de digestión anaeróbica, lo que ha llevado a a analizar los factores que afectan dicho proceso tales como el tipo y cantidad de inóculo, y la influencia que ejercen sobre la producción de biometano y su cinética de producción.Se han analizado las características fisicoquímicas de los residuos, tales como el pH, alcalinidad, sólidos totales y volátiles, demanda química de oxigeno, nitrógeno total y amoniacal y la influencia de estos parámetros sobre la producción de biometano. Más recientemente, se han empezado a estudiar las biomasas de segunda y tercera generación, las cuales se caracterizan por estar compuestas por lignina, celulosa y hemicelulosa, lo que nos permite analizar la influencia de estos componentes sobre el proceso anaeróbico.
