El Prof. Dr. W. D. Obregón entró a carrera de investigador del CONICET en 2009 y es investigador independiente desde nov-2020. Se especializó en el aislamiento y caracterización de proteínas vegetales, destacándose en enzimología, proteómica y biología molecular. Su trabajo consta de 120 comunicaciones a congresos y 34 publicaciones en revistas de alto impacto internacional, así como a la dirección y codirección de varios Proyectos I+D (CONICET, la UNLP, Agencia I+D+i). Actualmente es Director del CIProVe. Sus líneas de investigación actuales incluyen a las proteínas vegetales, como una alternativa para la sostenibilidad ambiental y como productos naturales de potencial aplicación en biomedicina y en la industria agroalimentaria y farmacéutica. Ha dirigido y finalizado 4 tesis doctorales y 12 tesis de grado. Actualmente se encuentra en la dirección de 2 investigadores asistentes CONICET, 2 tesis doctorales y 3 tesinas de grado. Se desempeña como Profesor responsable en Farmacobotánica (FCE, UNLP).
