Resumen *

MOTIVATION Integration of different functional materials to lead to materials with relevant features and applications is a subject of increasing interest. Our group has recently developed a nanohybrid consisting of a few number of Fe3O4@Au nanoparticles encapsulated into mesoporous silica (m-silica, MSN) and with a PDT photosensitizer, specifically Rose Bengal, anchored to the pores1. An efficient singlet oxygen formation was obtained upon excitation of the nanohybrid with visible light. The aim of this work was i) the preparation of a new biocompatible nanohybrid, comprising magnetic and luminescent nanoparticles within m-silica, and decorated with a porphyrin, and ii) the study of its efficiency to generate singlet under NIR light excitation. RESULTS Individual magnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles (MNP) and luminescent core-shell β-NaYF4:Yb3+/Er3+:NaYF4 upconversion nanoparticles (UCNP) were synthesized using already reported methodologies2, 3. First, the incorporation of both NPs into m-silica was optimized and the MNP-UC@MSN nanohybrid was characterized by different techniques, such as transmission electron microscopy (Fig. 1), infrared spectroscopy FTIR, and fluorescence. Then, the MNS surface was functionalized with tetrakis(4-carboxyphenyl)porphyrin. Finally, the nanohybrid was tested as singlet oxygen photosensitizer under NIR excitation Información suministrada por el agente en SIGEVA
