Partial results from a study carried out in orchards Gran La Plata showed different kinds of management (conventional, low-input and organic) by the producers. One objective was to study the contribution made by these agricultural ecosystems to the conservation of local biodiversity of a group of abundant soil beetles in any ecosystem (family Carabidae). Our hypothesis predicts that these production systems are home to a large percentage of the total known species from the area (213). Out of 64 species recorded in an annual cycle, a few were very abundant (synanthropic and generalistic) and a large percentage that gathers several estenotopic species. It is discussed the importance of these sites as reservoirs of diversity. The characteristics of richness and abundance depend on the presence of shelters and the connectivity that these establishments have with other diversity source areas.
