Some aspects of contemporary discussion on History of Present are analized from an epistemological perspective but with special consideration on recent historiographical debats as Goldhagen´s. The existing tension between history and memory used to characterize the concept of History of Present is exposed and analized. It is also argued that the concept of generation contributes to a better analysis of the problem. Attending at the Habermas´conception of “analytic observer” it is argued that the historian of the present is not only an observer but also an “involved subject” without losing a critical perspective in the historical reconstruction.
