Early Career Researchers (ECRs) in limnogeology and paleolimnology face diverse personal and professional challenges related to their specific academic roles, career stages (PhD, postdocs), and life situations. These can range from: adapting as new researchers, experiencing culture shock, being highly mobile and often changing countriescountry recurrently of residency to become attractive candidates for permanent academic positions, balancing demanding laboratory or and fieldwork, helping with other projects from advisors, colleagues, or network members that aren't always related to their main researchassisting in parallel projects of advisors or other department members that are not always related to their own PhD project, or taking over tasks that were not discussed before singing their contracts, usually those tasks can lead to uncredited work and difficulties to be acknowledge and build a collaborative network. Commonly, they faceing gender-related, location-related, or financial-related challenges when relocating for postdoctoral or other research positions or funding for specialized, costly analyses (e.g., radiocarbon dating), or reconciling professional development with family duties. Also, some would like more opportunities for creativity and initiative, such as the flexibility to design or propose slight modifications to their PhD or postdoc projects and related publications. Additionally, individual identities, including age, gender, cultural background, and race, further shape and add complexity diversity to leading leadsuch diverse research groups through greater social equity, influencing promoting team dynamicsrole models and leadership effectiveness .Inspired by successful strategies from collaborative earth sciences groups, this initiative aims to actively identify, discuss, and address key challenges faced specifically by ECRs. Through anonymous and interactive tools (e.g., Mentimeter), structured questionnaires, participant-submitted questions, and related materials such as comics and audio narratives, we will foster an open, safe, and inclusive discussion space during our the virtual IAL-IPA ECR meeting. Participants will share and reflect on personal their experiences, while collaboratively exploring effective solutions and leadership strategies. These insights that we intend to share during will be presented at the 3rd jJoint IAL-IPA Meeting in France.
