This work aims to reexamine the Moral Qualification of Cinema previously explored in the San Juan newspapers of the 1950s, a series of moral reviews of cinematography to be released in the province that were published with the aim of limiting people's access to the films that contradicted the codes of morality promoted by the ecclesiastical authorities. We propose to expand the conclusions reached there, presenting the qualifications and the criteria used for the qualifications and delve into the scope of moral qualifications as mechanisms of "indirect censorship." To do this, we will study the ratings in newspapers and magazines from other provinces of the Argentine Republic recovered from their archives, as well as the institutional or editorial guidelines for the promotion of this prescription, also recovered. We propose to present these new qualifications and illustrate them through cinematographic examples, consolidating a complete vision of the influence of the concept of morality in cinema and its evolution over time. At the same time, we propose to return to our first conclusions about Moral Qualification, to contrast them with the new results.
