In the present work, a proposal of Urban Solid Waste (USW) containers location in a residential and commercial area of Bahía Blanca is developed. Seeking to promote a system that values the USW, the containers are differentiated into a humid (or non-recyclable) fraction and a dry (or recyclable) fraction. The study is carried out within the framework of a technological collaboration agreement between the area of Industrial Engineering of the Universidad Nacional del Sur and the company Bahía Ambiental SAPEM, in charge of the city's municipal solid waste collection system. The problem to solve is to optimize the location of USW disposal points by minimizing the investment costs, given the maximum area available for installing the containers and their associated storage capacity. To do this, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and a mixed-integer linear programming model of facilities location with capacity constraints (CFLP) were used. In addition to solving the problem and raising 4 possible scenarios, the results obtained include the determination of the quantity and quality of the waste generated in the area under study and the registration of USW generators and large USW generators.Palabras Clave
