Resumen

This paper presents a Spanish adaptation of the Autism-Spectrum Quotient Test (AQ-10) for adults, and analyses its psychometric properties. An intentional sample of 19 adults previously diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and 398 adults without clinic diagnosis was evaluated through an online interview. The interview included the adapted AQ10, and the Perspective Taking and Empathic Concern sub-scales of the Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI), and collected sociodemographic al clinic data. The sensitivity and specificity of the AQ-10 to identify ASD, its concurrent validity and its internal consistency were analyzed. The adapted AQ-10 showed an area under the ROC curve greater than .90. With the cut-off point of 6, a sensitivity of .89 and a specificity of .91 was observed. Negative correlations were observed between AQ-10 and the subscales of IRI. The internal consistency was medium-low (? = .601). In conclusion, this instrument shows very good performance to identify people with ASD and, given its brevity and simplicity, it could be a useful tool for the screening of ASD in non-specialized health care services.
