The general objective of our work is to reconstruct the history of the Nougués, a business family of the Tucumán agro-sugar elite, owner of the former San Pablo sugar mill. Our period of analysis ranges from the founding of the primitive sugar mill in 1832 to 1986, when the firm's financial and economic decline. We will focus on the economic development of said family, and its business performance over time, assessing the arbitration of favorable contexts that allowed them to make the family patrimony the basis of a process of social differentiation that placed this lineage as one of the most relevant of the sugar elite.
