Resumen

This work offers an overview of the general election process (first and second round) that occurred in Ecuador at the beginning of 2021, considering the use of judicial mechanisms for the pros- cription of candidacies and the role of electoral bodies in said process. In addition, according to the electoral results, an analysis is made about the impact of the regional cleavage (coast-highlands) in how the votes are structured. Taken together, these elements allow for an analysis of the results of the first and second round.
