The workshop recognised the support of the government of Argentina and the province of Chubut to better understand the unusual high mortality of southern right whales at Península Valdés. Whilst recognising the progress made, it stresses that further commitment is required to develop long-term actions to ensure the effective conservation of southern right whales and their habitat, in accordance with the objectives of the IWC‟s Conservation Management Plan.Researchers also thanked the whalewatching companies that provided support to conduct studies from their vessels.Finally the workshop emphasized on the importance of sharing all the available information on this species in the Southern Hemisphere.The workshop thanked the IWC Delegation of Argentina and the province of Chubut for their efforts in bringing together the participants and organizing the workshop; to the IWC for financial support and L. Rojas Bracho for chairing the workshop and finishing on time.
