Research on the connection between social inequality and health care has burgeoned over the past five years. Although Latin America is the continent with the highest disparity in income, this is not parallelled with the development of academic efforts or projects aimed at analysing the impact of socio-economic inequality on health/illness/medical care/healthcare processes.
