Experiencia en el área de la química orgánica: doctorado (1987), posdoctorado con Fundación Alexander von Humboldt (1988-1989) y estadías posdoctorales en Alemania con becas DAAD y Humboldt. Actividad como docente-investigador en el Departamento de Química Orgánica, Fac. Cs. Químicas -UNC (1980-1991 y 2010-2023) y en el Departamento de Bioquímica Clínica, Fac. Cs. Químicas-UNC (1991-2010). Investigador de INFIQC (1983-1991); CIBICI (1991-2011). Director de ICYTAC (2012-2023). Participación en proyectos europeos sobre inocuidad y trazabilidad de alimentos, sumado a participación en proyectos nacionales e internacionales sobre ambiente. La actual experiencia se resume en áreas de la química de alimentos, en particular evaluación de integridad alimentaria y compuestos bioactivos en alimentos. Una segunda área de experiencia es el estudio ambiental, con participación en ecotoxicología (en especial sistemas acuáticos). Finalmente, la experiencia reciente se desarrolla en el área de interface entre el ambiente y la producción de alimentos.
