En la exocitosis acrosomal (EA) el espermatozoide humano libera el contenido del acrosoma, que es crucial para la fertilización. Estudiamos el rol de los lípidos en la EA, esclareciendo mecanismos moleculares activados por esfingolípidos como esfingosina 1-fosfato, ceramida y ceramida 1-fosfato. Demostramos que ARF6 regula el recambio lipídico, modulando la síntesis/hidrólisis de fosfatidilinositol 4,5-bifosfato, determinamos la función del diacilglicerol y el colesterol en la EA y la movilización del calcio intracelular en respuesta a cambios en la composición lipídica. Actualmente investigamos el rol de los esfingolípidos en la EA inducida por ZP humana. Evaluamos los efectos de compuestos fenólicos de desechos de vinificación en gametas masculinas, con posible aplicación en fertilización asistida. Usamos TLC, ensayos bioquímicos, funcionales y morfológicos. Por citometría de flujo medimos el potencial de membrana mitocondrial, oxidación de tioles, ROS, peroxinitrito, peroxidación lipídica de membranas.
