El desarrollado de mis investigaciones se centra principalmente en dos campos. El primero, consiste en el empleo y desarrollo de nuevas técnicas para la cuantificación de variables hidráulicas y sedimentológicas en grandes ríos, estuarios y deltas. Este campo resulta clave y necesario para entender sus comportamientos, lo cual requiere de la cuantificación de dichas variables con mayor precisión y resolución espacio-temporal que las logradas con métodos tradicionales. El segundo campo, empleando las nuevas técnicas diseñadas a tal fin, comprende el estudio de la hidro-sedimentología y morfodinámica de estos sistemas, en especial ríos que presentan un patrón entrelazado o meandriforme y ambientes de transición como deltas y estuarios. Los estudios se concentran en la identificación de procesos y variables de control que permitan explicar y predecir su comportamiento.
