Mi trabajo de investigación ha estado principalmente dirigido al estudio de ecosistemas costeros polares, tanto en el Ártico como en la Antártida, haciendo foco especialmente en el subsistema bentónico. Inicialmente, el interés era analizar en forma comparativa los patrones de estructura y diversidad de las comunidades bentónicas, en estos lugares que comparten condiciones ambientales similares pero que tienen historias evolutivas muy diferentes. Luego se empezó a ver que el proceso de Cambio Climático experimentado a nivel global era mucho más rápido en las regiones polares; analizar la respuesta de estos ecosistemas a estos cambios se convirtió en el principal objetivo de trabajo. Estamos llevando adelante esta línea en cooperación con grupos de diferentes instituciones y países, desde una perspectiva interdisciplinaria, con aportes de la ecología, la genética de poblaciones, la fisiología, la bioquímica, la geología y la glaciología. *Information provided by the agent in SIGEVA
