Dr. Sergio Avena is a licenciate (1998) and doctor (2003) in anthropological sciences from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA). He is currently working at the Laboratory of Biological Anthropology, CEBBAD, Maimonides University (MU) and FFyL, UBA. Dr. Sergio Avena is a licenciate (1998) and doctor (2003) in anthropological sciences from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA). He is currently working at the Laboratory of Biological Anthropology, CEBBAD, Maimonides University (MU) and FFyL, UBA. He is also a teacher of Evolution in BS in Biological Sciences (MU) and Biological Anthropology (FFyL, UBA).Dr. Avena has worked in the study of the genetic admixture across different regions of Argentina since 1998. His main interest is the analyses of miscegenation process between Natives, Europeans and Africans, in the current cosmopolitan population. He has published numerous research papers about these themes, and also some papers about the study of Amerindian populations, in international and local journals. Dr. Avena is member of the Asociación Latinoamericana de Antropología Biológica and the Asociación de Antropología Biológica Argentina, of which he was President (2013-2015). He was organizer of the XI Jornadas Nacionales de Antropología Biológica (Buenos Aires, 2013).
