He has 30 years research experience in plant physiology and ecophysiology and ecophysiological modeling. He is currently interested in elucidating the role of environmental factors on grain and oil quality on oil crops and in the study of the ecophysiological and genetical bases of the responses of plants to water deficits and other abiotic stresses. He applied his expertise in the development and automation of methods for high-throughput phenotyping of plants.
