Me interesa el estudio de comunidades microbianas aplicado a la biotecnología ambiental y las ciencias de la tierra. Por un lado, estudio el tratamiento biológico de efluentes y residuos sólidos, con el objeto de entender la relación entre la composición de la comunidad, la influencia de los parámetros operativos y la función del ecosistema.Por otra parte, investigo el efecto de la agricultura en la microbiología del suelo, en los aspectos de conservación de la biodiversidad y búsqueda de indicadores de calidad de suelo.Para esto utilizo desde técnicas clásicas de cultivo de microorganismos, hasta modernas técnicas moleculares como electroforesis en gel de gradiente desnaturalizante (DGGE), PCR en tiempo real, hibridación fluorescente in situ (FISH), secuenciación masiva y análisis bioinformático.En un marco de colaboraciones con empresas privadas, entes de servicio público y universidades nacionales y del exterior.Además de la labor en investigación, tengo un especial interés en la docencia universitaria y la formación de recursos humanos especializados. *Information provided by the agent in SIGEVA
