Investigación en problemas actuales del aprendizaje automático, en particular aprendizaje profundo (deep learning). Desarrollo de nuevos métodos de aprendizaje profundo para clasificación de objetos en imágenes, señales biomédicas y texto. Métodos de aprendizaje computacional con aplicación en bioinformática, en particular en casos donde existe un gran desbalance de clases.
