I studied mutations of the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes of healthy women with a familiar history of breast cancer. I received training on mismatched PCR, use of restriction enzymes and Southern blot analysis. Subsequently, I investigated the DNA state of neoplasic cervix cells infected by HPV and collaborated in the detection of HPV (supported by the PAHO and the IARC). I received training on mismatched PCR, use of restriction enzymes and Southern blot analysis. Subsequently, I investigated the DNA state of neoplasic cervix cells infected by HPV and collaborated in the detection of HPV (supported by the PAHO and the IARC). I received training in cell culture, PCR techniques and use of restriction enzymes. Later, I examined the mechanism of lysosomal protein secretion by epididymal epithelial cells (in vitro and in vivo). Moreover, I studied the mannose-6-phosphate receptor and its ligands during the perinatal development of several organs of the rat. I acquired expertise in cell culture, RT-PCR, confocal-immunomicroscopy, pulse chase analysis, immunohystochemistry, light and electronic microscopy, co-immunoprecipitation and immunoblotting. Currently, I am studying the molecular mechanisms of several epididymal lysosomal proteins on sperm maturation, capacitation and fertilization.
