Studies have indicated a positive relationship between vegetation diversity, habitatcomplexity and ecosystem processes. The family Carabidae (Coleoptera) has proven good indicator of the degree of disturbance, of environmental conditions and action anthropic. Carabid assemblages (dominance structure and composition) of a vineyard plot and surrounding environments (riparian forest and water channel) in Berisso, Buenos Aires were analyzed. In the three environments Carabids were collected with pitfall traps. The beetles abundance and richness was higher in the vineyard plots than the riparian forest and channel. The carabid assemblages in the vineyard and surrounding environments showed similar composition, and reflects the presence of microenvironmental complexity in all sites. Nevertheless, most of the species with affinity for wet locations indicates a degree ofhomogeneity generated by the flooding.
