In this article we reconstruct the realities of neighborhood children's football clubs in the city of Bariloche in the second half of the 1990s and until the crisis of 2001. From an approach to social history, we analyze the trajectory of these institutions, considering their problems and the subsistence strategies of the popular sectors in the years of neoliberal hegemony. Football associations were affected by economic policies and processes of social destructuring. Given this, they promoted various actions and the construction of institutional networks in order to survive. The results of their strategies were diverse due to the different strength of each entity. Then, the 2001 crisis enabled a revitalization of the clubs as participatory spaces that promoted solidarity actions. We consider that the period studied was crossed by a contradiction between the forces of social disintegration and the construction of collective initiatives.
