This study was conducted in the interfluve of the Coyle and Gallegos river valleys in Southern Patagonia , a region modeled by glacial processes that produced terraced levels dissected bycanyons. The spatial archaeological signal is widely distributed across the landscape and concentrated within the last 3300 years. Our research aims to characterize the regional biological and taphonomic signatures of massive guanaco deaths caused by winter stress, to examine the potential of the guanaco remains to preserve in the fossil record and the chances of producing spurious associations with archaeological materials. A final goal is to discuss the effect of the glut of resources offered by these carcass accumulations on past hunter-gatherer adaptations. Information provided by the agent in SIGEVAKey Words
