The purpose of this paper is to relate the experience of the Diploma of Extension in Prevention and Approach of Violence against Women, of the National University of Quilmes (UNQ) and present some reflections referring to the cross between the university, the extension and the perspective of gender in the contemporary socio-cultural situation. The purpose of this paper is to relate the experience of the Diploma of Extension in Prevention and Approach of Violence against Women, of the National University of Quilmes (UNQ) and present some reflections referring to the cross between the university, the extension and the perspective of gender in the contemporary socio-cultural situation. The existence of the Diploma is based on a concern about the social problem of violence against women, observable in the alarming figures of femicides and cases of gender violence in Argentina. But also in other more invisible or silenced forms of violence, in their symbolic or economic forms and in different spaces. This Diploma is part of a collective and multidisciplinary work by teachers of the UNQ that since 2014 propose training from the university extension. The group of students of this Diploma has been a heterogeneous collective of community referents and State agents. The curriculum proposal addresses the problem from its conceptual, cultural, psycho-social, educational, communicational and legal aspects. In this way, an interdisciplinary perspective is emphasized to problematize violence against women, as well as the approach strategies. Within the university, the experience of the Diploma has mobilized and renewed a collective concern for the approach to gender violence from the teaching, research and extension spaces.
