In this paper, we analyse a series of technological changes experienced by the province’s sugar industry after 1876, taking as a reference the Lastenia sugar mill. Based on the analysis of different aspects characteristic of this stage in Lastenia and other productive units, we propose that, after the arrival of the railway, Tucumán was the protagonist of a Technological Revolution. This process meant the beginning of a new phase for the development of capitalism in the province and brought with it a cycle of transformations that are still felt in the 21st century
