The objective of the following article is to analyze the socio-emotional processes of nursing students from the Universidad de la Sierra Sur de Oaxaca in three analytical scenarios in relation to community and family care strategies; individual management of their physical and emotional complaints and the effects of virtual classes. This is an exploratory-descriptive qualitative study supported by a theoretical framework of medical anthropology and socio-cultural studies of emotions. Among the outstanding results are: the management of community and family care strategies in the face of the precariousness and notable absence of real support in terms of federal and state health resources in communities, of one of the poorest states in the country; the importance of virtuality to access to leisure practices and contact close relatives and friends; the fact that the lack of face-to-face socialization with the university community exacerbates hopelessness, the lack of confidence and the gaps between social classes.
