In the 50s, the work and the José Pedroñi’s figure acquired outstañdiñg visibility iñ the maiñ periodicals of the Argentine Communist Party, or linked to its orbit. This paper analyzes the three collections of poems that José Pedroni published throughout this decade –Monsieur Jaquin, in 1956, Cantos del hombre and Canto a Cuba, in 1960– from the hypothesis that their topics añd the “simple” expressioñ of his verse they gradually adjust to the judgmeñts of party critics. In a feedback process, communism's appreciation of his work and his own creative practice provoke movements of mutual impact. From the deed of the gringos who colonized the lands of Santa Fe to the song of the Cuban revolution and the chronicle of current events that move the party press, these poems by Pedroni illuminate the multiple possible dimensions of the “national” literary program that communism he discusses and rehearses in the 50s.
