The primary objective of this research is to enhance the water solubility of Fenbendazole (FBZ), a benzimidazole-carbamate anthelmintic. Despite its potential as a chemotherapeutic agent, FBZ’s low solubility leads to poor and inconsistent oral bioavailability. To address this, we aim to formulate an amorphous solid dispersion (ASD) of FBZ. However, the literature has shown that benzimidazole-carbamates tend to degrade during thermal exposure in manufacturing (1). For these reasons, in this work we explore the use of manufacturing processes such as hot-melt extrusion (HME), spray drying (SD), and KinetiSol processing for the preparation of an ASD of FBZ using Soluplus (SOL), a polymer with a low glass transition temperature (Tg).
