Azamethiphos (CAS: 35575-96-3) is an organophosphorus pesticide used for insect control and as ectoparasiticide in fish farming. It is a neurotoxic compound, which exerts toxicity through the inhibition of acetylcholinesterase. Its acute oral toxicity is low to moderate to rodents; in rats, it is less toxic when applied dermally. Birds are most susceptible to azamethiphos than rodents.
