Fui Editor Asociado de Auk, Ardeola, Austral Ornithology y Bird Conservation International, miembro del Consejo Mundial de BirdLife International (1999-2004) y soy vicepresidente de la International Ornithologists' Union (2022-2026). Recibí la Alexander F. Skutch Medal de la Association of Field Ornithologists (2017) y el William Brewster Memorial Award de la Americal Ornithological Society (2024). Fui Vicedecano (2010-2014) y Decano (2014-2022) de la FCEN-UBA.
