Mis intereses de investigación se centran en el papel funcional de la inflamación en la neurodegeneración y en la excitabilidad del cerebro; el impacto de los mediadores de la inflamación en la etiopatogenia de las crisis epilépticas; y el desarrollo preclínico de nuevos tratamientos antiepilépticos. También, estoy estudiando los efectos de la inflamación periférica neonatal en la excitabilidad y el comportamiento del sistema nervioso central a largo plazo, así como las moléculas claves involucradas. Finalmente, los enfoques futuros están dirigidos a investigar el impacto del envejecimiento sobre la neurogenesis del hipocampo y sobre el deterioro cognitivo. Con estos propósitos, estoy usando una combinación de enfoques conductuales in vivo, y electrofisiológicos y moleculares in vitro. *Information provided by the agent in SIGEVALines of Investigation
