Desde el año 2004 estoy liderando una investigación multidisciplinar para chequear, y eventualmente desarrollar, una hipótesis de trabajo que he impulsado. Esta hipótesis está relacionada con el hecho de que en la región de la sierra La Huerta Valle Fértil (San Juan) está expuesta sobre la superficie de la Tierra una sección de corteza inferior y/o media formada por acreción magmática exactamente debajo del arco magmático Famatiniano que estuvo activo durante el Ordovícico inferior a medio. La relevancia del proyecto que lidero radica en que: 1- ha encontrado la presencia de la raíz del arco en una región que fue mapeada a través del tiempo como rocas metamórficas, por ende será un aporte concreto básico y aplicado a la geología de Argentina y, 2- la investigación de los niveles profundos de arcos magmáticos tiene relevancia a escala global porque los pocos ejemplos que se están estudiando intensamente porque los arcos magmáticos constituyen zona importantes para el desarrollo socio-económico de la humanidad. *Information provided by the agent in SIGEVA
