John Morales nació en Cuenca, Ecuador en el año 1985. En el año 2008 recibió el grado de Ingeniero Eléctrico de la ?Universidad Politécnica Salesiana (Cuenca-Ecuador)?. Desde el año 2010 al 2014 realizó estudios de ?Doctorado en Ingeniería Eléctrica?, en el ?Instituto de Energía Eléctrica de la Universidad Nacional de San Juan (IEE-UNSJ)?, Argentina, obteniendo el título de Doctor o Ph.D en Ingeniería Eléctrica. Sus áreas de interés son las protecciones eléctricas, procesamiento de señales aplicados a los sistemas eléctricos de potencia, simulación de transitorios electromagnéticos, electromagnetismo. Ha realizado más de 40 publicaciones entre ellas en revistas indexadas y en eventos de ciencia y tecnología.
