Experiencia en los campos de astronomía y física, con énfasis en cosmología, con actuación principalmente en: lentes gravitacionales, cúmulos de galaxias, energía y materia oscuras, formación de estructuras a gran escala y procesamiento de imágenes de CCD. Coordinó el SOAR Gravitational Arc Survey y el Blanco i-band kilo-degree Survey y la participación brasileña en el CFHT Stripe 82 Sruvey y el VISTA-CFHT Stripe 82 Survey. Propuso la participación brasileña en la colaboración internacional Dark Energy Survey, de la cual fue designado como ?builder" y donde co-dirigió el Strong Lensing Working Group. Participa del Vera Rubin Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST), donde actúa en la Transients and Variable Stars Science Collaboration. Es miembro del Coherent Neutrino-Nucleus Interaction Experiment.
