Dirige el grupo de investigación Bioquímica Vegetal del IIB en el cual se desarrollan líneas de investigación cuyos objetivos son: 1- Incrementar en conocimiento básico y aplicado de las proteasas de origen vegetal, con el objetivo de contribuir a su aplicación como herramientas biotecnológicas en producción vegetal, en la industria alimenticia y en la industria farmacéutica. 2- Innovar en el agregado de valor de subproductos de la agroindustria de origen vegetal con el objetivo de brindar nuevas soluciones para la producción sustentable, mediante su uso como fuente de compuestos bioestimulantes del crecimiento vegetal, nutracéuticos, antimicrobianos, antihipertensivos, etc. 3- Innovar en la generación de formulaciones y métodos de aplicación para la biofortificación con selenio con el fin generación de alimentos funcionales e incrementar en valor comercial y la tolerancia al estrés de cultivos de interés agronómico.
