Ecología de la vegetación en ambientes semiáridos y áridos: dinámica de pastizales y matorrales del noroeste de la Patagonia. Bancos de semillas y su dinámica. Ecofisiología de semillas de especies nativas y exóticas (Fabiana imbricata, Rumex acetosella, Pappostipa speciosa, Festuca pallescens, Senecio bracteolatus, Mulinum spinosum, Boopis gracilis, Nicotiana linearis): ruptura de dormancia por factores del fuego (humo, temperatura, carbón, ceniza). Ecología de los disturbios (fuego y erupciones volcánicas). Severidad de los incendios. Sucesión postfuego: arbustización y biodiversidad. Dendroecología y arbustización. Incendios de interfase natural-urbana (Bariloche). Colaboró en trabajos sobre los efectos de la hormiga cortadora de hojas Acromyrmex lobicornis en la vegetación.
