My work seeks to elucidate how insects acquire, process, and use sensory information from their environment to guide adaptive behaviors, with a particular focus on disease vectors. I lead an interdisciplinary research group that applies an integrative framework to sensory processing across different leves, from peripheral detection to central integration and behavioral output. Our group has developed strong expertise in olfactory and gustatory systems, which are central to host detection and feeding decisions in hematophagous insects. We combine molecular biology, bioinformatics, neurophysiology, behavioral analysis, and neuroanatomy through innovative experimental paradigms that address both innate responses and sensory plasticity. This coordinated multidisciplinary strategy has allowed us to uncover complex sensory mechanisms and to position our group as a reference in the sensory biology of insect vectors, with clear implications for vector control strategies.
