Trabajo mayormente en análisis no conmutativo y análisis discreto. Principalmente en el estudio y clasificación de algebras de von Neumann y sus automorfismos con técnicas provenientes de la teoría ergódica, la teoría de grupos y la lógica matemática. Di aplicaciones de la lógica a las álgebras C* y a la dinámica de grupos. Tengo publicaciones en teoría de grupos y análisis en grupos motivados por la lógica matemática y las álgebras de operadores. En los últimos años también investígué en teoria de números, más precisamente en geometría diofántica. He dirigido cinco tesis doctorales y en la actualidad dirijo una tesis doctoral en temas de teoría de números.
