El estudio sedimentológico, diagenético y geoquímico de sucesiones sedimentarias permite establecer numerosos procesos sedimentarios, genéticos, quimioestratigráficos y postdepositacionales orientados a contrastar el origen, edad y evolución paleogeográfica y paleoclimática de las unidades analizadas. Para ello, los análisis geoquímicos de elementos mayoritarios, traza y en especial de los isótopos estables de C y O, junto a las relaciones isotópicas de Sr permiten inferir edades, establecer tendencias evolutivas y reconocer cambios drásticos ocurridos en la historia geológica durante la formación de las rocas en estudio. Cabe destacarse, que en el marco de proyectos conjuntos con grupos de investigadores tanto del país como del exterior se llevan adelante análisis de detalle, con la aplicación de metodologías apropiadas para cada etapa de investigación. *Information provided by the agent in SIGEVA
