La Dra Pagnussat se dedica a la biología celular, bioquímica, biología molecular microbiana y de microalgas de interés biotecnológico. Integra el grupo de investigación del Laboratorio de Bioquímica Vegetal y Microbiana de la Facultad de Ciencias Agrarias de la UNMdP y el Laboratorio de Biomasa y fijación biológica del nitrógeno del INBIOTEC-CONICET. Cuenta con experiencia en la interacción planta-microorganismo, co-cultivos de microorganismos promotores del crecimiento vegetal, interacciones microalga-bacteria, realizando estudios a escala de laboratorio, invernáculo y campo.
