Las células NK juegan un rol crítico en la inmunovigilancia contra tumores y la regulación de la respuesta inmune a través de la secreción de citoquinas tales como el IFNg y la actividad citotóxica. Este rol regulatorio de las células NK las hace atractivas para el desarrollo de estrategias de inmunoterapia para el tratamiento del cáncer. Nuestras líneas de trabajo se centran en investigar la regulación de las cél. NK en respuesta a factores endógenos y exógenos que podrían comprometer dicha actividad funcional durante la homeostasis de la respuesta inmune normal y durante la inmunovigilancia contra tumores. Mi trabajo se centra en estudiar la relevancia de las interacciones entre galectinas y glicanos en la regulación recíproca entre CDs y cél.
